Schreiber. The presentation focused on Collaborative and Cooperative Law models. Shelly further spoke on how to be the best lawyer you can be, and how to love your job.

"I focus on problem solving divorce no matter what the process or forum," said Shelly Finman. "In family law, it is common for attorneys to become "adversarial lawyers" and begin to form a negative attitude toward their job and lose insight of the harm to families from adversarial divorce. I consider myself a peacemaking lawyer, and therefore love my job! My goal, with presentations such as this one, is to share my philosophies and experiences with fellow attorneys about how to help people work through cooperative and collaborative divorces and, thereby, inspire them to seek more positive and constructive outcomes in their work."

Shelly Finman will also conduct a skills training presentation to the Charlotte County Family Law Bar Association on March 28, 2012. The focus of this presentation will center upon the best ways to handle an initial consultation with a difficult client, in order to obtain a maximum outcome beneficial to the client and family.

Finman adds, "In a combative divorce, the whole family loses. I believe in promoting methods of marriage dissolution that are collaborative, putting the primary emphasis on privacy, convenience, and fairness. In all candor, peacemaking is not always possible, especially when dealing with most difficult persons who are not able to understand reason, practicality, and be flexible in the negotiation process."

Shelly Finman understands some issues cannot be resolved amicably and must be decided by a judge. In that event, he will respectively, and with firm determination based upon preparation and his client's cooperation, recommend the court process as a last resort.
