WASHINGTON, DC, November 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gail Daubert, Partner, Reed Smith, Partner of the Life Sciences Health Industry Group at Reed Smith, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Health Law. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
As a legal professional with more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Daubert has met many obstacles throughout her career that are often confronted by successful women in business. She has managed to overcome those obstacles to the level of becoming a partner and integral member of Reed Smith, one of the 13 largest law firms in the country. For the past 11 years, she has been responsible for obtaining reimbursement and securing patient access to valuable new medical technologies. In addition, Ms. Daubert is charged with providing legal, regulatory and legislative counsel to a variety of professional associations and manufacturers of pharmaceutical drug products and medical devices. She works extensively with medical device and pharmaceutical companies to ensure the appropriate payment for their products. Ms. Daubert strives to help her clients develop and implement successful reimbursement strategies for their products and medical procedures. This, in turn, supports the marketing and sales of products, and provides patients with access to the services they need.
Furthermore, Ms. Daubert has creatively resolved issues related to the Medicare reimbursement of new medical technology for firms, and she has assisted clients with Medicare coverage issues, working directly with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Coverage Analysis Group and Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carriers. Looking toward the future, Ms. Daubert plans to continue working in the field of health law, helping small companies that are on the cutting edge of innovation bring their technologies to patients.
Ms. Daubert's background is in nursing, specifically in the operating room. She found herself having concerns regarding the direction that payers were taking on coverage and payment for health care services. Thus, she enrolled in law school. In 1999, Ms. Daubert received a JD from the American University Washington College of Law. She previously earned a master's degree in health law in 1995 from Loyola University. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Society for Women's Health Research, the American Bar Association and the Association of Operating Room Nurses.
