New York civil rights violation lawyer David Perecman comments on the arrest of a New York City police officer on charges of civil rights violation and unauthorized use of a law enforcement database.
NEW YORK, NY, October 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A New York City police officer was arrested and charged with civil rights violations, the New York Post reported. The officer, Admir Kacamakovic, allegedly assaulted a man with pepper spray at a bar owned by the officer's cousin.
"New York civil rights violation lawyers will aggressively prosecute officers who unjustifiably use force. Police officers are sworn to uphold the law and such conduct will not be tolerated," said New York civil rights violation lawyer, David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York's civil rights violation law firms.
New York civil rights violation lawyers understand Kacamakovic was on duty and wearing his official NYPD uniform when he handcuffed and illegally detained the man.
Kacamakovic also assaulted a second person with pepper spray during the dispute which apparently started over a parking spot outside the bar, said the New York Post.
Later, Kacamakovic allegedly used an FBI database to search for information on one of the victims, reported The New York Times.
Kacamakovic is being charged with a violation of civil rights in New York and faces a maximum sentence of 17 years in prison, reported the New York Post.
"When an officer violates the civil rights of a person he or she is sworn to protect, it isn't just an abuse of power. It's an abuse of trust," said Perecman, a New York civil rights violation lawyer with over 30 years of experience helping victims of civil rights violations in New York, including victims of false arrest and New York police brutality.
